Spring break is the perfect opportunity for students to have a staycation. During a staycation, students can explore exciting local spots that they may not normally have the opportunity to visit. Yorba Linda High School is close to many amazing staycation destinations that students should definitely check out.

One of the easiest staycation ideas is to visit the beach. When it comes to visiting the beach, students have many opportunities to choose from. Some excellent opportunities include Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, and Newport Beach. Students can make this staycation trip a memorable day spent with either friends or family.

Another staycation idea is to take a day to visit a museum. Locally, there are a wide variety of museums that people can visit such as the Bowers Museum, The Getty, or The Broad. If students prefer not traveling too far for their staycation, there are even closer options such as the Richard Nixon Library Museum and Library.

If students want the experience of being in the outdoors without going too far, there are many nearby hiking trails that would be good for a spring break staycation. Some options that students can try out include but are not limited to nearby Carbon Canyon Regional Park, Santiago Oaks Regional Park, El Moro Canyon at Crystal Cove State Park, and Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park.

If a student prefers to have a day out with friends over a true staycation, there are many shopping centers that students can consider visiting. Some options include the Irvine Spectrum Center, South Coast Plaza, the Outlets at Orange, and Fashion Island. By visiting these places, students can spend time with friends, look at many shops, and try different restaurants.

A final staycation idea that students can consider is visiting a Theme Park. The most convenient destinations would be Disneyland and California Adventure along with Knott’s Berry Farm. However, if students are willing to travel further for their staycation they can also consider visiting other theme parks such as Six Flags Magic Mountain or Universal Studios Hollywood.

These are only a few of the many staycation ideas that students can consider during Spring Break. According to Juliana Neemeh (11) “taking a staycation is a great place to relax, have fun, and take time for yourself during a break.” With no shortage of locations to visit, if students take the time to go out and explore during spring break, any staycation can become incredibly memorable.
