The Mustangs show up every game to support their fantastic team. There is no other feeling than watching the team run through the field and knowing the game is about to start. Students are all dressed up and cheering as loud as they can for Yorba Linda. The football team is yet to disappoint.
The Yorba Linda Football team has shocked Southern California with its 5-0 record. This team has shown true resilience on the field, battling through many close games. Yorba Linda has not backed down this season, and talent is abundant throughout the team.
Their head coach, Coach Bailey, was named Week 1 Chargers Orange County Coach of the Week. He has helped create such a strong program. Despite brutal practices or harsh speeches, he does it for the team. He knows his team well and can give the proper orders during the game. The staff is incredibly talented and has genuinely been able to develop their players and put them in the right place at the right time.
The players have battled on the field, executed the right plays, and proven themselves able to play under pressure. The team’s dynamic is unmatched this season. Their movement on the field is so cohesive and hard to beat. The Mustangs have developed trust in each other, making it easy for them to play together. They are led by four amazing captains: Damian Felix, Logan Saucedo, Santiago Salas, and Holden Nagin.
The Mustangs know how to leave fans on their toes, having had some close games this season. Most notably, they beat Edison by a last-minute touchdown, which Troy Roberts scored. Two weeks later, they beat Charter Oak in a 29-28 matchup. At Tustin High School, they left the Tillers in shock after defeating them in their homecoming game.
Yorba Linda is yet to be stopped this season. The stakes are high, but their determination is even greater. Damian Felix (12) explains, “It feels great to be undefeated, but we know we can’t get too comfortable. Our success is a result of the team’s hard work, and we’ve faced some tough competition. As for pressure, I’d say we’re staying focused on what we can control, continuing to improve, and staying prepared for each game. We know league is going to be challenging, but we’re just taking it one week at a time, trusting the process and each other.” This shows that the Mustangs are not slowing down but are looking for the league title.
Tomorrow, the Mustangs will face off against Villa Park at home. Come out to the Stable to show your support!
