Marvels Eternals: When Fanbases Unit
January 13, 2022
On November 5, Marvel’s Eternals hit theaters, drawing a crowd from all groups of people, not just Marvel fans. Of course, this movie has been highly anticipated by Marvel lovers due to it being a crucial part of the next phase Marvel is heading into. However, special cameos from artists and actors made this movie extra special.
As Marvel Avenger: Endgame struck the world back in 2019, it marked the end of the avenger area, transitioning into phase four of the Marvel franchise. Many shows have come out on Disney Plus that contribute to this new phase, but Eternals is the first big project that came out relating to phase four. Fans were eager to get their tickets and see this movie in theaters for any clues or spoilers that can be traced to the future of this new phase.
One of the actors in the cast list for this movie could be recognizable for his music career rather than his acting career. Shocking fans across the world, Harry Styles was seen on the cast list for Eternals, making this his second major acting role. Styles hit off his singing career as a member of One Direction, a band that took the world by storm, selling out world tours and stealing the hearts of people around the world. Sadly, they disbanded in 2016, however all members continued with a solo career. Arguably, Harry Styles has had the most success post disbanding, releasing two albums and having two world tours.
In 2017, Harry made his acting debut, starring in Dunkirk. Gaining the attention of his fanbase, many went to see this movie only to see him, even though his role was not prominent. The same could be said for Eternals. Finding out Styles would have a role in this movie sparked the interest of his fans, encouraging them to go see the movie just to see their favorite on the big screen.
Though Harry Styles has a large fandom, nothing can beat the impact these next artists had on the promotion of this movie. Korean Pop group BTS members Jimin and V’s song Friends was featured on Eternals’ soundtrack.
Debuting in 2013, BTS’s rise to fame was slow, but in 2016, they had their big break in South Korea, winning album of the year at the South Korea Melon Music Awards, the first of many awards to come in the future. In 2018, they had their major debut in the United States, performing their song IDOL at the American Music Awards. To show how big their growth has been, BTS won three awards at this year’s AMA’s, including Artist of the Year and Song of the Year, the biggest awards they have, as well as being a two time Grammy nominee. They are now known as one of the biggest artists in the world, having arguably the largest fan base, ARMY. Once ARMY found out that two members Jimin and V had their song on the soundtrack, they made sure to watch the movie just to listen to the song, going as far as trending on twitter with pictures of ARMY taking pictures of the end credits to capture this memorable moment.

Marvel has never tied together three worldwide fan bases with a single movie. Theaters across the U.S., as well as other countries including South Korea are filled up with people of all different interests, uniting them together to support the creators they love.
