On October 21st, 2021, Sony finally dropped the Uncharted trailer! This movie is set to be released in theaters on February 18th, 2022. Fans could not be happier with all the news circulating this movie/trailer!

Uncharted is based on the PlayStation 3 video game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, which came out on November 19th, 2007. Since then, three more Uncharted video games have been released, including Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (2009), Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (2011), and the final installment, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, which was released on the PlayStation 4 in 2016 (FORBES). The games have been very well-received and a favorite to many. The popular movie company, Sony, decided to make a profit off of the popularity of the game’s success by making a movie. The movie has a spectacular variety of well-known and loved actors and actresses, such as Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Sophia Taylor Ali, Tati Gabrielle, Antonio Banderas, and Patricia Meeden. The film also has a pleasing production crew with director Ruben Fleischer, writers Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Rafe Judkins, and producers Avi Arad, Alex Gartner, Charles Roven, and Ari Arad.

The movie started filming on March 16th, 2020, which ended up being poor timing. The crew only got through one day of filming before production was closed due to restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. After pandemic restrictions eased up , production got back on its feet after a long break. It was confirmed that filming was wrapped up on October 29th of 2020 (ENTERTAINMENTWEEKLY).

The movie looks very entertaining and fun. Jaw-dropping scenes from the trailer left viewers in awe and excited to see the movie. “Uncharted follows the story of Nathan Drake – a devil-may-care treasure seeker and history buff who frequently butts heads with mercenaries, dictators, and other shadowy characters in his quests to uncover the secrets of the ancient world. As in the games, Nate will be joined by friend and mentor Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan in Sony’s Uncharted movie. The film is set prior to the events of the first Uncharted game, with Holland playing a younger version of Nathan Drake” (SCREENRANT).

With movie theaters finally opening and operating, Uncharted will be the perfect film to watch in theaters. One student, Kiara Melwani (10), says “I saw the trailer for Uncharted a couple days ago and it looks epic! I will definitely be checking it out when it comes to theaters.” The loud and immersive action sequences will be amazing to experience in theaters; the surround sound system and IMAX screen image will most definitely be incredible for this style of adventure film. Enjoy buttery popcorn and your favorite movie theater treats while being captivated by Uncharted on February 18th, 2022.
