Thanksgiving Is Not Canceled
October 10, 2020
With Covid-19 still relevant, people are starting to question how the upcoming holidays are going to play out. Though Halloween might not be celebrated the traditional way, Covid-19 is not beating Thanksgiving this year. With the proper safety precautions taken, families and friends can still enjoy the happiness and comfort that is brought through Thanksgiving.
Coronavirus has caused an extreme amount of negativity and discouragement in 2020. People have had to put their lives on hold for over half a year, and are still having their everyday lives affected in different ways. It is important to make sure that families and friends can unite during the holidays to bring back the sense of hope and happiness that people once had. However, it is still important to follow safety guidelines while traveling and spending time with family and friends this holiday season.
Traveling is a large part of the holidays since many people have family in different places. As long as safety precautions are followed, traveling can also be continued this year in a modified way. It is important to make sure that everyone is being safe so all can enjoy their holidays without worries. When traveling, it is important to make sure nobody is showing symptoms before going on any trips. Planes and confined spaces are easy to spread germs, so it is important to wear face coverings that can prevent the spreading and inhaling of germs. People should not be deterred by the idea of traveling for the holidays when following these methods.
Another important part about the holidays is gathering with extended family to enjoy the quality time together and reflect on the things people are thankful for. Though large gatherings are normally not recommended with the virus, family and extended family are an exception. In light of everything happening in the world, there is no better time to remember the little things that people are thankful for, despite the troubles happening currently. Kealia Amorin (10) states, “Thanksgiving is important to recognize family and the things you are thankful for that you may take for granted every day”.
Thanksgiving is more important than ever this year with the condition the world is in, and it is important to not let COVID beat this holiday. There are safety methods that can be exercised and ways for families to be safe and still come together to find hope in these troubling times. In this time of sadness and despair, it is crucial to make the best out of the given circumstances and remain as hopeful as possible.
