AP season is always filled with studying, sleepless nights, and most of all, stress. However, all that hard work does eventually pay off after those two weeks are over. Here are five ways to destress and relax after AP exams.
1) Go to the beach
With the California weather getting warmer, the beach has been a number one hang out spot for friends and family across Orange County. Nothing is better than getting to relax on the beach with no worries in mind. Luckily, Yorba Linda is only half an hour away from several beaches, such as Newport, Huntington, and Long beach. Whether it is swimming in the ocean, tanning in the sun, or watching the sunset, the beach is always a number one choice when it comes to destressing.
2) Movie marathon
Since AP season has caused a huge pause on TV shows and movie binging, now is a great time to get back on the movie watching grind. Whether it is alone in your room or with your friends, there are plenty of movie options that have opened recently. “Anyone But You” has been released on Netflix, and upcoming movies such as “Inside Out 2” are soon to be released.
3) Self-care day
Sometimes all you need is a day to spend time with yourself. This can include taking care of your skin with skin masks, reading, or simply sleeping in to catch up with all the sleep that was lost from studying from your exams. Another form of self-care can be going on a walk in your neighborhood to get some fresh air and exercise.
4) Retail therapy
Shopping online or in person with your friends is always a great way to destress. Although it can be on the more expensive side, gaining a new wardrobe can simply make one feel refreshed after a stressful week and feel ready for the summer. AP student Jennalyn Urquico (11) states, “I love shopping after exam season because it makes me feel refreshed and less stressed after exams.”
5) Go to an amusement park
Local amusement parks such as Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, and even Universal Studios are great places to spend time with friends after exam season. The “happiest place on earth” can easily make someone forget all the stress they felt when preparing and during the exams.
Overall, there are many options to choose from when distressing after AP exams that students have worked very hard for.
