Nail care has evolved drastically over the decades. There are things that go into style and out of style quickly. Fashion and style changes throughout each decade. In the 2000’s, everyone wanted leather skirts and jackets. In 2010’s, the grunge look was in style. Now, in the 2020’s, these styles aren’t seen on anyone anymore. However, acrylic nails never go out of style. It really comes down to your preference, whether you prefer to keep your nails natural or go acrylic. But in case you were debating it, let me tell you the benefits and disadvantages of each.
Natural Nails
Natural nails are your own nails. You can choose to leave them as they are, or use polish or gel to design them without damaging your natural nails. Natural nails are the healthier option. There are not as many chemicals exposed to you when you keep natural nails rather than acrylic nails. In addition, with natural nails, you have the freedom to keep them short or grow them out. You can experiment with different colors and textures to find your style and preference. Natural nails require regular maintenance such as trimming and shaping, but not as much as acrylic nails. Keeping natural nails is a cheaper option that requires less maintenance. Lastly, durability is more of an issue with natural nails than acrylics. Natural nails are prone to breakage and chipping more often than acrylics.
Acrylic Nails
Acrylic Nails are artificial extensions that are put on your natural nails. Some believe that they look better and have less to worry about than with natural nails. First, acrylic nails are very durable. They are strong and do not break easily. Many people with thin nails tend to look to acrylics to get stronger nails. Next, you can shape acrylic nails any way you want. You can leave them short, make them super long, square, round, there are endless possibilities as to the shape and designs acrylic nails can have. In addition, acrylics last longer than natural nails. You must go and get them done every couple of weeks, which adds up to quite a bit of money. But if you are willing to spend this money, acrylics are a good option.
Overall, the decision is yours. Each person will have a different preference as to how they like to keep their nails. Natural nails and acrylic nails both have the potential to be cute and stylish. I support whichever you choose, stay stylish Mustangs!
