When you think of coffee, your mind probably automatically thinks of the famous worldwide coffee brand, Starbucks. I know my mind most certainly does. Whether it be a pink drink or a matcha, you can usually find me at Starbucks almost every day getting my daily dose of caffeine. However, most recently, I decided to take a break from Starbucks. I felt it was time to try something new, other than the same pink drink I get everyday.
There are plenty of local coffee shops in Yorba Linda that all have a wonderful reputation. I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to try out as many local coffee shops as I could. This would help broaden my coffee taste as well as support other coffee businesses. As I searched, I found that the most popular local coffee shops nearby were Bodhi Leaf Coffee Traders, Peet’s Coffee, and the newly opened coffee shop–Made Coffee.
- Bodhi Leaf Coffee Traders
Starting off strong, we decided to head over to Bodhi Leaf Coffee. Besides Starbucks, this was the coffee shop that I went to most often. We each ordered a vanilla latte and gave it a sip. Overall, it was a really refreshing drink. As a starter, we knew it would be pretty hard to beat the vanilla latte from Bodhi Leaf. Bodhi Leaf has always held its own at being known for its very well-made, delicious coffee. If you are looking to have a sweet vanilla latte, Bodhi Leaf is the way to go. We rated this vanilla latte a 9/10.
- Peet’s Coffee
Next, we drove to Peet’s Coffee. I rarely go to Peet’s Coffee, so I was eager to try their vanilla latte. When we took a sip, it was surprisingly not too sweet. As a sugar fiend, I tend to favor coffees that are on the sweeter side, so I did not like this vanilla latte as much. However, my friend, Faith, really liked this latte. She tends to like more of a caffeine taste, so this vanilla latte was perfect for her. So in conclusion, if you enjoy coffee that has a stronger taste Peet’s Coffee is definitely your pick! We rated their vanilla latte an 8/10.
- Made Coffee
Finally, we decided to try out the newly opened Made Coffee! I was ecstatic to try their coffee, as so many of my friends raved about how delicious their lattes were. As I took a sip of the vanilla latte, it was as if gates of heaven had opened. Sipping that frothy creamy vanilla latte was like kissing an angel. Made Coffee’s vanilla latte was unlike any latte I had ever tried before. It had a really delicious vanilla taste with an almost undertone of lavender. The taste was heavenly and was begging for me to buy another one. Faith Alam (11) also commented that, “Made Coffee’s vanilla latte had the perfect amount of sweetness and taste of caffeine.
We rated Made Coffee a 10/10.
Trying out these local coffee brands was a really fun experience. It was so fun getting to try out the different coffees and being able to expand my caffeine taste beyond Starbucks.
So if you ever want to try something different than your daily Starbucks, these three coffee shops provide some really good options!
