Feeling the urge to dance the night away with your best friends or that special someone? Can’t wait for the next opportunity to get all dressed up, take glamorous pictures, dine at a fancy restaurant, and have a blast on the dance floor with a fabulous DJ? Well, good thing Winter Formal is around the corner. As the last formal dance of the school year before Prom, Winter Formal on Saturday, February 25th will definitely quench that thirst with its new venue and chic theme: “Midnight in Manhattan.”

Venue

This year’s Winter Formal will take place at AV Irvine, a modern and spacious event venue that holds impressive ratings on yelp.com. In the past, it has hosted numerous high school proms, company parties, wedding receptions, and other glamorous bashes. When asked about the upcoming dance, Libby Ragole (11) mentioned, “I can’t wait for Winter Formal this year because of the new venue ASB is using. It is definitely going to be the best Winter Formal yet.” On its website, AV has captivating photos of its exquisite features including light beams, a room full of balloons, a sweets room, luxurious furniture, a massive stage, and an energetic DJ – surely, it is bound to be a night to remember.

With the venue so close to the Irvine Spectrum, it would be a practical decision to eat at one of the many restaurants there before the dance. Some ideas for a great place to eat include:

Attire

Since this is Winter Formal and not Homecoming, the attire is a bit fancier for both boys and girls. Usually, guys wear nice dress shoes instead of black vans which they can get away with for Homecoming. Indeed, some wear jackets over their dress shirts and ties. Bowties are usually more appropriate for Homecoming, so guys should probably wear regular ties to Winter Formal. As for the ladies, long dresses are more common for this dance than for Homecoming, but that does not mean that all girls will wear long dresses. In fact, the majority will probably still wear short, but long dresses are completely appropriate for this Formal. Although the attire may seem relatively similar to that of Homecoming, the whole night is much more extravagant overall.

With this new exciting venue and many fabulous restaurants close by, it can be guaranteed that YLHS’s Winter Formal 2017 will be a success. Whether people are going stag or with dates, all parts of the night will be a blast. For those who are undecided about going stag or even going at all, do not miss out on this opportunity to make incredible high school memories with your friends. At the end of the day, it is those memories that people will reflect on in the future and cherish the most.
