The movie poster for the concert film truly encompasses the energy of the Eras Tour.
Taylor Swift revealed her latest concert film, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Concert Film,” during its official premiere in Los Angeles. This cinematic experience takes fans through Swift’s expansive discography, encompassing hits from her first album to her most recent releases.
Capturing the essence of the successful Eras Tour Concerts, the film was recorded over the first three nights of Swift’s six-night residency in Los Angeles. However, despite providing Swifties with a complete replica of her live show, there are notable differences from the live concert experience. Firstly, the movie’s runtime is condensed to 2 hours and 45 minutes, compared to the actual concert which was over 3 hours and 15 minutes. Meaning that several songs had to be omitted.
Given the film’s length, fans are left pondering a question: which songs did not cut? The movie’s release reveals significant exclusions, such as the collaborative performance of “No Body, No Crime” with Haim, along with “Long Live,” “Wildest Dreams,” “The Archer,” and “Cardigan.”
Considering the film was recorded during the Los Angeles shows, it becomes evident that other tour favorites are also missing. Songs like “‘Tis the Damn Season,” the collaborative piece “Nothing New” with Phoebe Bridgers, “Invisible String”, and the “Seven” interlude were found excluded from the film.
Additionally, each live show of the Eras tour had surprise songs. While filming the concert movie, Swift performed six different surprise songs throughout the three nights, including “I Can See You,” “Maroon, “You Are in Love”, and “Death by a Thousand Cuts”. The two that made it in the film are “Our Song” and “You’re on Your Own, Kid”. While the loss of the other songs hurt, the two are a fitting choice as the first song includes her debut album on the setlist, and the second song became the unsung anthem of the Eras Tour by inspiring fans to make friendship bracelets with fellow Swifties.
Many Yorba Linda High School students are fans of Taylor and will likely go to see this movie. When asked, Yorba Linda High School student and Swiftie Sarah Bennani (12) commented, “Honestly her cutting “Cardigan” which is one of my favorite songs hurt, but I’m still super excited for this movie!”. This idea seems to be a common sentiment among fans but this likely won’t affect the movie’s ticket sales.
Overall, fans are extremely excited for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour movie and it is sure to be very memorable.
