On May 22nd, 2016, the 2016 Billboard Music Awards were held in Las Vegas, Nevada at the T-Mobile Arena. Billboard is not only one of the most famous music companies, but is also the host for the annual Billboard Music Awards. Many awards were given out at the T-Mobile Arena and many performances were seen by the live audience on national television. With the hosts of the night, Ludacris and Ciara, many viewers were stoked for the night and many celebrities had planned for this event weeks in advanced.

Some of the favorite performances of the night were performed by Britney Spears, Shawn Mendes, Fifth Harmony, Justin Bieber, Meghan Trainor, Nick Jonas, Madonna and Stevie Wonder. Lauren Bui (9) says that her “favorite performance to watch from Sunday night was Shawn Mendes performing his well known single “Stitches” as well as Fifth Harmony partnering with Ty Dolla Sign for their newest single “Work from Home” from their newest album “7/27,” which comes out on May 22nd, because [she] loves Camila Cabello from Fifth Harmony and has fallen in love with Mendes’ music as well as him as an indivdual.”

Celebrities were seen all throughout the night, but the presenters were said to have done a fantastic job presenting the awards. These included Jessica Alba, Ashton Kutcher, Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Wiz Khalifa, Mila Kunis, Halsey and Zendaya. And as well as the many amazing jobs done during this award show, the fashion on the red carpet was rumored to be spot on. The featured best outfits were said to be Rihanna, Zendaya, Ariana Grande, Jessica Alba, Lucy Hale and Demi Lovato.

Sarah Stumpf (12) says that her “favorite part of the whole night was probably when Adele won the “Top Artist” Award because [she] loves her new single “Hello” and definitely thinks it deserves a spot on the award show. [She] also enjoyed watching the fashion walk down the red carpet and wished that [she] could have been there to watch it live with [her] own eyes.”

We save the best for last.. and in this case, the winners! The artists who took home their Billboard Awards this year included Fetty Wap for “Top New Artist,” Justin Bieber for “Top Male Artist,” One Direction for “Top Group,” Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s “See You Again for “Top Hot 100 Song,” Hillsong United and their song “Oceans” for “Top Christian Artist and Song,” and Walk the Moon’s “Shut up and Dance,” for “Top Rock Song.”

Though this night was long, it ended well with the best of today’s artists performing and spectacular moments to capture.
