National PTA Reflections program has helped support student success and has served as a valuable tool for building strong partnerships in our school community.
PTA Reflections welcomes all grades and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts annually, where thousands of students reflect on a common theme and create original pieces of art in the categories of dance choreography, literature, film production, music composition, visual arts, and photography.
The theme for the 2015-2016 school year was Let Your Imagination Fly and many YLHS students were chosen to move up to the Council Level.
Here are the students whose entries advanced to the Council Level:
1st – Claire Zuro (11)
2nd – Esther Kim
3rd – Kathryn Shepherd (12)
1st – Sara Jackson (10) (Balloons)
2nd – Sara Jackson (10) (Not Just Imagination)
3rd – Heather Gammon (12)
1st – Seung-Hee Yoo(12)
2nd – Jae-Hee (Robin) Yoo (11)
3rd – Alexandra Paradzick (10)
1st – Sidney Tran (11)
2nd – Kyra Stevens (12)
3rd – Lilah Haye (10)
“Both of my pieces were poems [and] the one that won first place was about how even the smallest idea can spark your imagination. The other was about making your dreams into a reality. I was extremely happy winning both first and second place especially since it was my tenth year in doing so. I also think it is a rewarding competition and everyone should support the PTA in order for kids in schools everywhere to be able to express themselves through the arts,” stated Sara Jackson(10).
Sidney Tran, Sara Jackson, and Claire Zuro also advanced to the District Level and their work was displayed at the Fourth District Gallery and Reception on January 30th. Congratulations to all of our students for their amazing work and participation!
