Stepping through the door and hearing it shut behind us was an exhilarating experience as we were transported to Olympus, surrounded by the artifacts of Greek gods and goddesses. We solved the puzzles and riddles around us to find Medusa’s head as the clock began to tick.
With one hour to escape the wrath of Hades, escapees are puzzled with numerous quests to meet their task. While it sounds fairly simple, the room gave The Wrangler staff a run for their money! Each decoration had much more to it than meets the eye; as we scrambled around the room, we realized some clues were right before us. Sticking to what we hoped was the correct path of deciphered puzzles was a fun, complex process that led us to many surprises. With five brains working together, we escaped with 20 minutes to spare.
Exodus Escape Room creates incredible rooms that adhere to unique themes and are of admirable quality and thought. With three locations in Anaheim Hills, Tustin, and Rancho Cucamonga, customers can experience several escape rooms, including Villains Vendetta, Ink & Ashes, and Inside Job. Each of these escapes is perfect for people of all ages and a great way to spend breaks and birthdays. Our host, Katie, affirmed that “Exodus Escape Room prides itself on having rooms for everyone. Most escape rooms are centered around horror, but we enjoy using themes that kids will enjoy as well as adults.”
If you have never been to an escape room, we recommend trying out the Olympus room at the Anaheim Hills location. While it may seem tough to begin, once you unravel more clues, everything starts to fall into place. This escape is wonderful as a team bonding experience, and it’s exciting to celebrate when you ultimately break out.
Chris McLain, CEO of Exodus Escape Room, began the business with his wife after loving the one they tried in Las Vegas. “We had a blast and said to ourselves, we gotta bring this to Orange County,” McLain shares. “After speaking to the one franchise in the industry and being denied because OC was “too small a market,” … we finally decided to make it happen ourselves.”
In 2010, the pair spent considerable time researching the market before opening the first escape room in Orange County and the tenth in the United States. By staying aware of competing businesses’ escape rooms, they keep a steady pulse on what the community offers and develop diverse experiences. Now, they boast almost 1,200 Yelp reviews and a 5-star rating, acting as “a staple in the community for fun and memorable experiences, be it a birthday party or just a friends or family night out!”
