Four years in high school, and it all boils down to this moment– this moment of realization that we seniors only have a week left of high school and a couple of weeks until we leave for college. As tribute to that, I’ve put together a “Senior Bucket List,” a list of fun-filled activities for each and every one of you seniors to do with your friends. Let the last few weeks begin:

  1. Take a day trip to San Diego. Whether it be a nice cruise on a Saturday morning in a car or by train, fun will be guaranteed. Eat, walk, shop around and experience what people call it, “America’s Finest City.”
  2. Gather your friends and drive down PCH just for the heck of it. Windows down, hairs breezing, tunes blasting, salty air wafting, you are bound to make the best memories with your friends. Take a stop for some frozen yogurt and a mini Polaroid photoshoot.
  3. Stay indoors and resort to DIY’s. From cute wall hangings to the infamous succulent displays, the end products will be perfect for your future dorms.
  4. Put together late-night bonfires at the beach. Grill some hamburgers and roast some s’mores for the ultimate night of the year.
  5. Put together a designated backyard for a movie night. Bring some pillows, blankets, and of course, popcorn to watch an action-filled horror movie or a hopeless romantic comedy while also spying the moon and some stars in the night sky.
  6. Say yes to everything for one day. Basically, within reason, do not deny any request and see where it lands you– whether it be with a different perspective on life or with a new adventure. You’re bound for the experience of a lifetime.
  7. Scout some concerts and sing and dance your night away. Be as loud as you can and don’t have a care in the world for these are your last days of high school.
  8. Be a tourist for a day. Take the bus tours in Hollywood and explore things you didn’t already know before.
  9. Hike the Hollywood sign or a beach trail. Not only will you get some exercise, but you will also be mentally relieved of the past stress that has burdened you.
  10. Write a letter to yourself that you will eventually read in 5 years. Include what you’re thinking at the moment and who your best friends are, what you think you’ll achieve in five years, and simply wait. See what has changed in those five years.

According to Catherine Baugh (12), before she finishes her last days of high school, she has a fiery desire to either “get on an LA rooftop” to take some pictures or “have a picnic where the Savi Ranch sign” is. She would also want to “hang out with as many people that she wouldn’t call her ‘not so close friends’ because she probably won’t be seeing them as often as she does now.”

These are just a few ideas out of many other ones out there. Try them out. Don’t. But cherish these last few days of your high school career, seniors. Spend as much time as you can with your peers because there is a high chance you won’t see them again after high school. Make these last few days count, Mustangs. If anyone can do it, we can.
